A special segment of
my portfolio has been selected for a traveling exhibit, in which photographs
reveal high quality stop-action images, showing in incredible detail the
instantaneous position of individual feathers of flying birds, impossible
to comprehend with the human eye, possible only by the use of the electronic
flash.
Perhaps your museum may be interested in hosting this unique exhibit, "Birds in Flight." It has been of particular interest to bird watchers, nature lovers, photographers, artists and school groups. Following its initial venue in August, 1992 at the Hood River County Museum, Hood River, Oregon, it has been featured more than 50 times in U.S. museums and galleries for periods of up to eight months. Two identical exhibits are available which include 32 11"x14" color photographs, mounted with archival mats in 16"x20" Nielsen frosted silver frames. Informative labels and a disk for producing your own labels is included. The exhibit has been featured in a number of ways, including as an individual display and in combination with museum collections. It has recently appeared, for eight months, at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History with the famous Phillips Petroleum carving exhibit "Wood on the Wing". The images in the "Birds in Flight" web site galleries that are included in the traveling exhibit are denoted with an asterisk. Rental fee is $1000 for four weeks. Longer periods prorated weekly. Since 2001 the exhibit has been featured at the Nevada State Museum, Carson City, NV; Museum of the Big Bend, Alpine, TX; Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland, OH; Nevada State Museum and Historical Society, Las Vegas, NV; Dane G. Hansen Memorial Museum, Logan, KS; Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, Norman, OK; Patuxent Wildlife Center, Laurel, MD; The Museum of Arts & Sciences, Daytona Beach, FL; Terrace Gallery, City of Orlando, FL; the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Santa Barbara, CA; the University of Alabama Museum of Natural History, Tuscaloosa, AL; and The Roger Tory Peterson Institute, Jamestown, NY. The exhibit is currently at The Wildlife Experience, 10035 South Peoria, Parker, CO 80134 (720.488.3331) through June 20, 2004.
